Who really wants
a casino in Ohio?
The majority of
Ohioans surely don’t. They have voted NO on
casinos three times in statewide ballot issues.
Less than two years ago they again rejected
casino gambling at the polls. Most Ohioans do
not frequent casinos. They are not that unusual.
Casino gambling is not a frequent entertainment
choice for most Americans. Most people who work
hard for a living take little pleasure in
throwing their money away and calling it fun.
People who do
choose casino gambling have plenty of places to
do so and many within an easy drive of Ohio. Of
course the people who really want casinos in
Ohio are the people who want to own a casino.
Over the years previous casino speculators have
spent almost $40 million on campaigns to push
casinos on Ohioans. This year the name of the
campaign is MyOhioNow. Do these speculators
believe Ohio is theirs for the taking, a
platform for their own personal gambling agenda?
The secret
funding partner of MyOhioNow was finally
revealed in May 2008. He is Lyle Berman, a
tribal casino developer and World Poker Tour
hall of fame poker player.
